Entering into a retail shop lease is a major investment that, if not entered into on a fully informed basis, can result in financial heartache for tenants. In order to avoid this situation as much as possible, the Retail Shop Leases Act 1994 (Qld) (RSLA) imposes an obligation on tenants to obtain legal and financial reports before entering into a retail shop lease or an assignment of such a lease.
